Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several key projects, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in their latest financial report. These updates shed light on the development stages and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Reaches Production Readiness
The highly anticipated sequel, Control 2, has achieved a significant milestone: production readiness. This means the game is now fully playable, and the development team is scaling up production, focusing on rigorous testing and performance optimization to ensure it meets quality standards. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the Control universe multiplayer spin-off, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This represents Remedy's first foray into live-service games, and will launch with a fixed price model incorporating ongoing service elements.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
Following positive critical and fan reception for Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion, Remedy confirmed the game has largely recouped its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching October 22nd, with a Collector's Edition to follow in December. Pre-orders are available on the official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is working on a complete, playable version, prioritizing key gameplay enhancements to differentiate the remake.
Remedy's Future with Control and Alan Wake
Remedy emphasized their long-term strategy for the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Having acquired full rights to both IPs from 505 Games, they are exploring self-publishing and potential partnerships, aiming to announce their publishing strategy by year's end.
The company highlighted the interconnectedness of these franchises within the Remedy Connected Universe, emphasizing their importance for future growth. Further announcements regarding these franchises and upcoming game developments are expected throughout the year.
