Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!

Love Sudoku and crave some friendly competition? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you can challenge other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.

Before diving in, adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers, providing a common starting point for all players. Everyone receives the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, selectable in the options: "Show the correct numbers of your opponent." When enabled, every correct number placed is visible to all players. Each correct number earns points, but you can't use a number already placed by someone else – speed and accuracy are key! Disabling this option hides correct numbers from other players, allowing for duplicate entries and alternative point-earning strategies.

Time-Outs and Points:

Incorrect entries result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, configurable in options), preventing further actions while others continue. Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct number. Incorrect entries cost you half the points you'd gain for a correct answer.

Winning the Game:

The game concludes when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show the correct numbers of your opponent" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team Play vs. Individual Play:

Team play allows two teams to compete. Upon joining, select your team (1 or 2). At least two players per team are required. Points are tallied for the team, and notes/filled colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar beneath the puzzle offers helpful tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes to empty squares. Clicking a number and a square adds that number as a note; clicking it again removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of any square (including solved ones).
