Auction Bridge & IB

Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) is a bridge card game variant.

Evolving from bridge whist, Auction Bridge & International Bridge (IB) represents the third stage in bridge's development. Preceding contract bridge, its lineage traces back to whist and bridge whist.

Auction Bridge & IB differs significantly from contract bridge in trick, bonus, and penalty scoring. The concept of vulnerability is absent.

Trump selection is largely similar, though contract bridge employs a more intricate process. Gameplay and rules maintain a strong resemblance to contract bridge.

The dealer initiates trump selection, committing to win at least the odd trick in a chosen trump suit or at No-trumps. Higher scoring contracts prioritize points (excluding doubles) over trick count. For instance, 3 Spades (27 points) surpasses 4 Clubs (24 points).

Trick scoring beyond six tricks is as follows:

• No-trumps: 10 points
• Spades: 9 points
• Hearts: 8 points
• Diamonds: 7 points
• Clubs: 6 points

A game is achieved at 30 points.
