Seka – A Card Game
Seka, also known by various names such as Sikka, Sichka, Strekoza, Trinka, Trynka, Drynka, Tri Lista, Dva Lista, and others, is a captivating card game that has entertained players for generations. Here's an in-depth look at the game's features, rules, and the latest updates.
Features:
- Number of Players: Seka can be enjoyed by 2 to 10 players.
- Deck Size: For games with up to 4 players, a 20-card deck is used, consisting of cards from Tens to Aces. For games with 5 to 10 players, a 36-card deck is used, ranging from Sixes to Aces.
- Joker: The game includes a Joker, which can be agreed upon to represent any card, typically a Six of any suit.
- Card Values:
- Joker and Ace: 11 points each.
- King to Ten: 10 points each.
- Lower cards are valued at their face value.
The player with the highest total score wins the game.
Rules of Play:
- Determining the Dealer: The dealer is chosen by a draw. Players then contribute a predetermined amount to the pot.
- Dealing Cards: The dealer distributes three cards to each player. Players decide whether to discard or play their cards.
- Scoring:
- Points are scored for cards of the same suit (known as a "hlyust"). For example, a Seven and a Jack of Clubs would score 17 points.
- If cards do not match by suit, only the highest card's points are counted.
- Having three cards of the same rank (a "triкон" or "trynka") always scores higher than a hlyust but less than a higher triкон.
- Bidding: The player to the right of the dealer starts the bidding. Subsequent players can fold, call, or raise the bid.
- Revealing Cards: Once the bidding round ends, the first player decides whether to continue bidding or reveal the cards.
- Winning the Pot: The pot goes to the player with the highest total points. In case of a tie, players can either split the pot or initiate a new round called "svara."
- Svara: This round starts with the same pot plus an additional contribution of 1/N (where N is the previous pot's total). Other players can also join by contributing.
- Bluffing: Players can bluff by raising the bid with fewer points, aiming to win the pot without revealing their cards.
- Dark Bet ("zatmenie"): The player to the dealer's left can place a "dark bet" of any size without looking at their cards. Subsequent players must then double this bet to stay in the game.
